When a vacation turns stressful, quick action can make all the difference. The team at Ontario Ring Recovery Services answered an urgent call from a visitor traveling to Prince Edward County from Quebec. While playing volleyball at Sandbanks Provincial Park, his gold wedding band slipped off into the deep sand.
After hours of searching on their hands and knees with no luck, the group found our metal detecting service online and reached out for help.
The Search and Recovery Process
Ryan Pugh and I grabbed our metal detecting gear and met the owner at the park. He walked us past the dunes to the exact area near a volleyball court where he felt the ring come off.
How the recovery went down:
- Targeting the Area: We systematically swept the loose sand around the volleyball area.
- The Minelab Manticore in Action: Within one minute of turning on our machines, Ryan got a solid hit on his Minelab Manticore detector.
- Target Identification: The detector produced a crisp tone with a high VDI reading in the late 60s—a classic signal for a gold ring.
- The Scoop: Before I could even turn off my machine, Ryan lifted his PTG sand scoop to reveal the missing gold band safely inside.
Minutes later, the wedding band was back where it belonged, turning a ruined vacation into a successful recovery story.
