Sometimes, everyday moments take an unexpected and stressful turn. That was certainly the case for Kathy, whose family experienced a heart-stopping moment when a precious family heirloom vanished.
The Disappearing Heirloom
Patrick had been given his dad’s special ring with the instruction to wear it when he got married. During an accidental mix-up while clearing away some hostas, the ring was mistakenly scooped up and thrown out onto the lawn. Realizing what had happened, Patrick immediately told his family they needed someone with a metal detector. Luckily, they knew just who to call!
Teaming Up for the Search

Teaming up with Ryan Pugh, we headed out to the property to scan the lawn and track down the missing treasure. After mapping out the general area where the debris and hostas had been tossed, we got right to work with our detectors. It didn’t take long before I locked onto a gorgeous, shallow high-tone signal right near the hostas—and sure enough, there it was, sitting in the grass!

A Joyful Reunion
We immediately FaceTimed Patrick to share the incredible news, and watching his reaction when he saw the ring was truly priceless. Handing the heirloom back to Kathy brought an overwhelming wave of relief and happy tears after such an emotional week. Being able to return something with so much generational meaning is what this hobby is all about.
