Phase One: Conquering the 5-Foot Snow Piles
Following the heavy snowfall, the driveway had been neatly cleared, leaving behind a series of daunting obstacles: five massive, 5-foot-tall snow piles.
Undeterred by the freezing temperatures on January 8, Rien headed out to tackle the mountain of snow. Shoveling through compacted plow snow is grueling work on its own, but doing it while searching every single scoop requires extraordinary patience.
Persistence paid off. After digging entirely down through one of the massive piles, Rien struck gold—or in this case, a sparkling piece of history. The first ring was recovered, sparking hope that the second wasn’t gone forever.
Phase Two: The May Yard Hunt
Fast forward to May 25. The snow was long gone, replaced by spring warmth, but the hunt wasn’t over yet.
Rien returned to search Keilynn’s mother’s yard. There was just one complication: the yard had already been thoroughly raked by her mom in an effort to find the missing item, turning what could have been a straightforward search into a needle-in-a-haystack challenge. Initial efforts failed, but Rien pressed on.
True to form, the determination didn’t waver. Rien successfully tracked down and recovered the second ring, finally completing the set.
A Happy Ending
Finding lost items is always rewarding, but reuniting someone with sentimental pieces against the odds—battling January snowdrifts and May raked lawns alike—is something special.
